Went to to another Greaserama show over the weekend, which has become my favorite show. You never know what you're going to see.

Most of the photos are of GMCs; however, there is a mix of other items too. There is a picture of a Chevy hood I really liked. They took the scoop portion of a Mustang hood and incorporated into the Chevy hood.

More pictures to follow...

Wow what a bunch of COOL old cars and trucks! I don't know what half of them are but I sure got a kick out of looking at them. So many I can't pick a favorite.

:insane:

The bottom pics look like the old "hushmobile" from the inch-high private eye cartoons I grew up with lol.

Hi David, cool show, thanks for posting up pics! Did you put your GMC and self-built camper in it? Your setup is as cool as anything in this show!

I am curious, what sort of engine is in the GMC COE rat rod in the first two pics?

Hello Doug,

No, I thought about taking our combo up there, but didn't. I might next year. It's a four hour drive and the farthest I've towed our camper so far is three hours, so I'm slowly working out the bugs and building up my confidence.

Plus, I have a few rust places I'd like to tackle, which will most likely be this winter. I've been stalling in buying a welder and been using my dads for misc projects. But I've got two vehicles and an old motorcycle to do bodywork work, and it's not efficient to run over to my dads throughout body work projects.

The GMC COE rat rod you mentioned is a '49. I did not have the opportunity to talk to the owner, so I don't know the details on the engine. I do remember looking in the cab and seeing sheet metal work/engine shroud that extended into the cab. I would imagine it get's a little toasty in there; especially, during the Kansas summer months.

Hello Fetch,

I'm not familiar with the "hushmobile", so I'll have to do a little research on that.

The bottom pics you referred to are Mercury's. I believe that body style was late '40s to early '50s, and it's common to see the top chopped. If you saw the movie Cobra with Sylvester Stallone, I think that was a '50 Merc. That car (cars) took a beating in that movie. Now, that's the only car that you can spin 180 while speeding down the freeway, drive in reverse at highway speeds, so you can shoot the bad guys behind you, then spin the car back around. I think the '50 model was the only year that had that option from the dealer. ;)

I didn't really care much for those Mercs 20-30 years ago, but they've been growing on me over the years. The grill is one of my favorite parts of the car.

David
