The Rhinopac was the same one I installed and it fit perfectly. Not sure what was different with yours. Please post pics after the nap so we can see how things turned out.

I am wondering is the V-6 flywheels changed at some point. When I replaced the clutch on my '67 351E, I could not find a new disc that would work. None of the ones I looked at would sit flush on the flywheel. The original clutch disc was absolutely flat on the flywheel side, nothing protruded. At the time, I did NOT look at a Rhinopac 04-528. My solution was to send the original disc out and have it re-lined. Since there are those on this forum that have used the 04-528, I have no other explanation. There must be different flywheels.

The issue I had with mine was similar. I have a 67 305E in my 64 GMC and the rhinopac 04-528 disc is NOT completely flush on the flywheel side. It has a small nub on the splines that the old one doesn't causing it to ride the pilot bearing. My solution was to machine it down and hope for the best. Pictures wouldn't load onto my computer so I ended up dropping the motor back in and then I came down with a virus so I am out for awhile. haha

I must be as lost as you are on this.
I have had one of every year (1960-1968) and every one I have pulled apart had what looked to be the same flywheel assembly. A flat flywheel with a recess just deep enough for the bolts. Clutch discs were all flat on one side with the spring pack and nose on the other side.
This for 305s and 351s.

Looking at a picture of the Rhinopac 04-528

https://images.whisystems.com/Smartp...AMS/04-528.jpg

It looks to me like there could possibly be a nose piece on the reverse side of this disc, which means it won't fit (the reverse side should be the flywheel side). If the spring pack sticks out at all it should rub on the bolts.

I think someone else had the nose pressed out and then pressed back in on the other side to make their assembly work (I think I read that here).

I've smashed fingers and dropped parts on my toes enough to where I can't say I have ever seen a difference between flywheels.

The flywheels on the V6 never changed and like David brought up if someone had the nose on the clutch pressed out and turned over to the other side that would work. I can verify that would work because that's what ended up happening to the clutch I bought for my 68 years ago. I was told it would fit the V6 application but it didn't so gave the parts store my old clutch disc and the new one to compare to by the next day everything was right, evidently their supplier sent the disc to a local clutch remanufacturer and they reversed it:thumbsup:

For someone smarter than me, this picture album just showed on the main page. I looked at it, but I'm not sure what they're trying to show. We can swap out for a centerforce clutch model maybe?

I have the 64 305E and the Rhino pac did not work for mine. I tried a couple other ones from O'reilly and Napa and they did not work. As someone stated in a previous post the one side is flat. I sent mine to Brake & Clutch Supply 254-752-4307 in Waco, Texas. The guys were very nice and did a great job. Turn around was great.

Isn't it ironic that we have all these pictures posted of these new clutch discs that supposedly work, but NONE of the pictures show the flywheel side! There is a picture of the correct used disc. Looks to me that the Centerforce disc is the plain old Chevy style, no way it will work.

I have a 351E with the NP-435, is the clutch the same as the SM420?

I believe so.
