What is the flap in the right side exhaust?

Ok, I'm sure I am just ignorant, but what is the exhaust flap thing in the right hand side exhaust?

It's a heat riser valve;

The heat riser valve is located between the exhaust manifold and the head pipe and is used to hasten the warm-up of a cold engine. Malfunctioning or frozen valves can cause loss of power or exhaust manifold damage.

Crazy exhaust guy left mine in, I just leave it open. Doesn't hurt a thing.

Thanks for the info! Yeah mine was rusted about 1/4 of the way open. I just dropped out the exhaust to get the new 3" with a flowmaster 50 welded up! :upyes:
