Crankcase Ventilation Filter

I was wondering if anyone had good part number for the crankcase ventilation filter or what substitution you’ve used? Also where it can purchased? Thanks

just bought crankcase vent filter @ OReilys 305E V6 . How do you get the top off cannister to replace filter? Is it two pieces ? screw off cap or pull off? what tool is needed ? hard to get to. Thanks JM

Re: Crankcase Ventilation Filter

It's a one piece screw off cover with shallow coarse threads. I have removed a couple with the engine out.
With the engine in, it can be a difficult job. Maybe a chain wrench or a small diameter oil filter tool. Possibly you could attach a hose clamp and rotate it off carefully. Maybe by hand if you're strong and dexterous. Someone else may have a better idea. Best of luck.

soak the housing with a powerful penetrating oil to loosen up the housing. then use a strap-type oil filter wrench to loosen the top of the filter to spin it off.

Re: Crankcase Ventilation Filter

Remove valve cover first and crankcase vent filter unscrewed no tool needed. Did not see pcv valves under valve covers , is there one on each head,
? not there ?

Check out the pic the brass plug is where it goes, it should have a pipe thread on the pcv. My 1964 305E engine has one under each valve cover.
Thanks,
Steve
