Master Cylinder

6066ers, am looking to replace the "fruit jar" master cyl in favor of a dual + proportioning valve on the Power Brake sys from the factory. Does anyone have any suggestions re a particular part / manufacturer? I see the usual suppliers are advertising $285 for a complete assy but I think just going to the local NAPA might cut that number in half. Suggestions??? Jim Hyde

Hey 1965 gmc dually here, I have been wondering that myself I think I need a need brake booster. Classic car parts.com out of kc, MO have a combo booster and master cylinder duel reservoir $300 plus shipping and handling. I went to Orielys and they only could pull up the single reservoir master cylinder.

I used the power brake booster, dual master cylinder and proportioning valve from a 1975 GMC shorbed and it works great. But, I also swapped the entire break system with the 1975's brake parts (disc brakes and rearend)

Re: Master Cylinder

I changed my 66 1/2 ton to a dual master cyl. I picked up one at a swap meet.
I believe it came out of a 1974 or so Chevy Impala. I had to change the length of the rod going into the rear of master cyl. I got mine for $10. There is a lot of 70's car parts that will work with little modifications. I got my proportioning
valve at a junk yard. donrm 1966 GMC 351E
