Rebuilding?
 

I have a 305B in my 1965 C20 and would like to rebuild the engine, what are my rebuild options for this evolution? Can I punch it out to a 351, 401, 478? or is just .020 .030 etc as my only option?

C20 is a chivvy. they didn't have 305's :teehee:

GMC would be 2000 or something like that. For the punchout someone else will have to answer that one but I'm pretty sure you're limited to .020 etc on those. It'll still pull a house around though.

Is there something definitely wrong with your motor now? They're really hard to kill. They're made out of America and Determination with a dash of Ohh-yeah baby.

There were no 2000 models, if it's a 3/4 ton then it will be a 1500 series. As far as punching it out there is no way you can even get close to the bore of a 351, you can go with .010, .020, .030 or .040 for an overbore

Sorry for the "Chivy" reference, yes it's a 3/4T moddel, 2WD, LB in Palimino Brown, bought it with a broke 305E, found a running 305B, to replace it with and just thought with all the deck between cylinders, hogging out the extra.300" or so might be possible, guess not and now I'll have to find the larger engine to rebuild, as we know there is no replacement for displacement...Thnx for the feed back!

There's definitely no substitute for cubic inches, a 401M V6 would be optimum for a real power increase.
