351C Fuel Pump

I am hoping someone can tell me what mechanical fuel pump works on a 1965 351C V6. I have not been able to find anything on-line that claims to fit this engine and year combination. I did find a new pump for a 1966 model 351, but it has a bend toward the end of the lever that I don't see on the earlier pumps available for the 305E engine.

Is the shape of the lever important? (I had to use a bent lever model in my 64 GMC with a 305E to get home one weekend, and it seemed to work fine.) Or is the main difference the size of inlet/outlet hoses and fittings, which seem to be larger in the 1966 and later pumps?

JR, this old listing from the Ebay says 351C and here is a photo.

The second photo I think is for a 305A. I see what you mean about the bend...on the end. :ahhhh:

I'm confident someone else will clarify for us.

I've not seen him post here, but Lewis Matkin Jr. was one of the part number/reference guys. Has anyone heard from him because he would certainly know?

Re: 351C Fuel Pump

Funky61 - Thanks for response. My quandary is that there is information about fuel pumps for 1966 351C engines, but no information about 1965. If the 1966 pumps work in the 1965 engine, then why aren't they listed as fitting both? The pump that is in my engine now has the bent lever. But it is obviously not the original and needs to be replaced.

If youre going by the Ebay info theres your trouble :)
THey're wrong alot about what fits what. 351 fuel pump will fit 351 engine from beginning to end I'm 99% sure.

Re: 351C Fuel Pump

Problem solved! I think I know why I was not able to find a fuel pump listed for my 1965 351 V6. The AC Delco pump I took off my engine has female pipe fittings for both inlet and outlet lines and the truck came with 5/16" fuel lines. The 1966 and later pumps have the same dimensions and lever, but have a slip-on inlet for 3/8" fuel line and a built-in 5/16" female inverted flare outlet. So the 1996 pumps fit the 1995 engine, but require different fuel line fittings to connect them. This probably prevents the 1996 pumps from being advertised for 1995 applications, and there is not enough demand for 1995 style pumps to justify producing something different. My next problem was finding the inverted flare fitting needed to connect with my existing flexible fuel output line (with in-line fuel filter), but I eventually found a reasonably priced 5/16" inverted flare to flexible line elbow at a parts dealer who understood what I was looking for.
