Re: 637 v8

His information was not all that accurate, the 637 never used the ww carb as it would have been completely starved of fuel. The turbo version was actually the DT478 V6 and 366 & 427 engines never replaced the 637 as it was in the 9500 series, the largest application for the 427 was in 1975 when it replaced:pullinghairout: the 432 and 478 V6 gas engines:(

I read a comment where a guy was correcting the info on the carb. For some reason I don't even think that 637 would Idle with a ww!

I failed to mention the largest application for the 427 was the H & J 7500 series starting in 1975, I'm sure it didn't live up to the job of the 432 & 478 V6 engines:teehee:, within 3-4 years it was replaced with Diesel engines in that series.

Interesting article and replies.

I drove one in a '71 JE 9500 for about 2 1/2 years as mentioned in some other threads.

It's good just to hear some more conversations about them, lol.

Re: 637 v8

hi guys. The correct designation for the carb on the 637 is a "WWC", not a "WW". This same carb design was on all 401 & 478 engines. It also came on the 351E and M engines (M engine is oil pr. governed). The "WW" was a small cfm carb used by various GM divisions and Mopar divisions. I hope this is of some assistance in this discussion.

Cordially,
