You tell us. Does it have two lines going to the Master cylinder? If so, it's hydraulic. One is brake, one is clutch. In any case you probably know you have to have someone push pedal down and observe. Don't have to drive in the rain to do that. You already have the right ideas in mind. You will soon see what part of the action is broken, loose, leaking or fluid low/air in line.....and hopefully not worse than that. In one case there is a slave cylinder (piston) which operates the clutch fork and the other is all mechanical linkage operating the fork.
