Not just equal length, but a length designed to time the intake pressure pulses running up and down the intake runners to hit the intake valve just as it opens.

Name Dodge "Ramcharger" came from work done to use it in early 60's.

Lots of new complex intakes use it.

do a web search and there's several articles on it.

My quick calculations show about 20" long runners for our engines.
