Ok maybe not... Sometimes, its amazing the things that I miss.
It did have small bumpouts in the casting. It was a bit hard to see until I marked the edges with soapstone. So it appears that it is externally balanced.
Unfortunately the starter ring gear teeth are far too closely spaced and doesn't match my starter teeth. I guess I need to go to starter school as well...
