I would be interested in knowing the details of it originally. Engine, Trans, GVW, etc.

I used to drive a '62 6500.

Hi Bill
Yes the truck has a spicer 5 speed main box # model number 5652
The brownie is a four-speed Spicer model number 6041
the rear ends not sure what they were but they were old the Jackshaft went into the power divider in Lou of the back of the front differential
I would imagine they were probably SS HD's Rockwell
I put peterbilt air track with eaton rear ends
The motor is a 47 The motor is a 478 Magnum

Looks good.

My 6500 was just a Single Axle. Had a 478 V-6 with a Clark 5-Speed Trans and a 2-Speed Rear, 10-20 Tires, Spoke Wheels, Air Brakes and a GVW of 32,000. Also had Power Steering.

Keep us posted on your project.

Bill

This truck I took a part for parts had a 478 , Clark five speed transmission with a two speed rear axle probably similar to the one you used to drive
Had no power steering so it had a great big steering wheel
I needed the engine front crossmember and motor mounts and motor parts
Bought it from a guy in North Carolina it was all rusted out I hated to take it apart Because it did run , the guy that rebuilds these old transmissions he said the Spicer's were the best , The Clark's where a week transmission I have it sitting on the floor trying to figure out what I'm going to do with it

Looks exactly like my old 6500 except for the color and wheel base. My truck had a 16 Ft Flat Bed Dump on it. Even though it had Power Steering, it still had the big steering wheel, lol.

My 5-Speed Clark, never gave us any trouble. The Shifter Pattern on it was:

24R
351

Going from Granny 1st to 2nd was fun.

It also had the irregular Shifting Sequence:

1L
1H
2L
2H
3L
3H
4L
5L
4H
5H
