Default Help.... need a front hub for 64 GMC 1000

I'm working on a 1964 GMC 1000 for a customer of mine and the outer wheel bearing race has spun in the hub and I'm trying to find a replacement hub, new or used, doesn't matter. It's a 6 lug on 5 1/2" bolt center.

I've searched the internet for hours and also looked at LMC and even called them but can't find one.

I've suggested to the truck owner to convert the fronts to disc brakes because this thing is scary to drive with the non-power assist drum brakes all around. But he wants to try to find a replacement hub if possible.

Any help in pointing me to a source for parts would be appreciated.

Steve

Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't have enough posts yet to start a thread in the market place. I've sent Rustbucket a PM.

If you are talking about the bearing cup, many have chiseled or center punched big burrs on hub or cup and used Loctite bearing retainer compound and drive cup in. I have done this without any problems. There should not be a lot of torque with a new cup and bearing with good grease and proper preload. It does depend on the ID of the hub and how much gap there is to the new cup OD. (.001 or .010 per side?) Measure each , subtract and divide by 2.
