Easy, usually a vane pump. Mostly orings, seals, cleaning. Many times it is easier to buy a new one if available. Not all parts are available for old pumps. The disassembly is easy. take pics and hopefully no major metal parts are needed, just rubber galore. O'Reilly's does list a kit for $15. Echlers says 65-86 Chevy or GMC, V6 or V8, same kit. If that's true then a reman pump for a 1980 Chevy is $58.

Thanks AZKEN
My NAPA DEALER is working his fingers to the bone to match my pump. Hard part is the alignment holes for the V6 brackets, that's why I was thinking of rebuilding front shafts seal is leaking.

Best way to design/modify bracket is to mount bracket on motor, put new pump in place and see if you can drill extra holes in bracket or some other idea strikes you. Buy a few different pumps at a place like O'Reilly's where they will take it back, no questions asked. This is if you can not find the exact replacement.

I think you can get a seal kit for the pump, not hard to put in. Remove pulley, take bolts out of back of pump, remove can, be carefull not bend can. Drill 1/8th inch hole in metal part of front seal, thread a small long screw in hole, use side cutters to wedge screw up and remove seal. Try tuckers or the filling station for parts
