Default Newbie hubcap question

Hey guys/gals....slowly building and trying to keep my small GMC collection going. Currently I want to get some period correct hubcaps. The truck is a 66 3/4 ton 2WD. The wheels are 15" split rims and have the clips. I took caps off my 68 2500 with 8 3/4 inner measurements and they popped right on. I keep hawking eBay and hubcap sites and failing on my search. Any suggestions without me spending a ton of $? It's hard to spend $300 for a set of caps when I find similar ones at flea markets for $5 but of course never the right sizes.

Welcome! Here is a great link on year correct hubcaps:
http://6066gmcguy.com/wheelcover.html

If you are looking for some nice 62-63 clip type caps, Rustbucket had these for sale:
http://6066gmcclub.com/showthread.ph...light=hub+caps

I kind of like the 62-63 caps more than the 64-66, but that is just my opinion. I looked long and hard for the 64-66 nub type caps for my 65, but no luck. I bought a set of the 67 caps and 69-72 caps as plan B in case I can't find any. Good luck!

I appreciate the response. I should have asked the main part of my question. The 1/2 vs 3/4 ton caps with 8 3/4 inner diameter are different? I find them for sale and guys usually put 1/2 ton in the add. I'm assuming mainly because of the rear my 3/4 ton has that I won't have enough clearance.

Per Mr. Throckmorton's Web site.
1. 1966 is a one year only design.
2. 3/4 T caps are larger diameter AND deeper than 1/2 T.
3. Most caps after 62-63 are nub mounted not clip.
4. There is some overlap between clip and nub years.
I would switch to non split. Hard to find anyone to fix while on the road or small cities.
I just don't like messing with them and why should we stick with them? No value in that.
They have been known to be dangerous.

I am in the process of switching them. I color matched the wheels to the truck but I can do it again with more modern steelies. I figured if I found the right set I could focus on other stuff for now. I have 2 68 caps that will work just tough to find another 2.

For anyone else, there are three NICE NOS 1966 GMC hub caps on ebay right now for about $130. I wrote to the guy to ask if they are 1/2 or 3/4...he said "I don't know, they are 8 3/4 Diameter where the attach".

As of now I'm good...found a guy that sells caps on eBay and he had one that matched my 68's so I asked if he had more and thankfully he does. Il update the outcome.
