Default Ring and pinion swap. how hard is it?

i have a 10 bolt dana 60 in the rear of my 1967 3/4 ton 2wd gmc pickup with a 305e and a th400 transmission. it has 410 gearing and i don't need that much torque. i want to go to 354 to improve my gas mileage and top speed.

how difficult is this operation? will i really need all these presses and grinders and diddlybods i see in the "how to" videos? can i get by with a set of wrenches, sockets and basic hand tools or is this really an "experts only" undertaking?

any advice or insight would be awesome, thanks.

I did mine on a 68 GMC 3/4 ton. Yes you need a spreader and a press. Plus an assortment of other tool. Not a job for a beginner.
