Smile Google is little help with part numbers

I have been struggling to decode GMC parts based on casting and stamped part numbers. I Google part name and numbers all the time and run into dead ends. I didn't have any problems with identifying the engine block (prob because it was used by Chevy, Pontiac, Olds, etc.), but everything else is a grind. Even exhaust or intakes manifolds don't pop up. Am I going about this the wrong way when using the internet. There's got to be more than ebay for identifying things.

I do see that there are books available, but I would like to know if others have found Google to be of little help. The power of technology is unbelievable until it comes to older GMC trucks.

While I'm on the subject, I don't even have luck finding youtube videos on 60's trucks.

I have found GMC Truck parts books are the best bet. I've got books from early 60's,mid 60's as well as the 70's that have been a great help.

I'd welcome a title BigBlock. the reason I use the internet is that my suspension is not a matching 1966 so I'm all over the place. I will be checking the library but really dont want to order books unless you know of one that is recommended. Thanks for feedback.
