Default GMC 1962 Delux heater core, external valve

Guys,

I flushed my coolant circuit and my heat core is clogged so I'd like to replace it.
Issue is the small shut off valve can't be bought I believe so any good plan to buy the correct heater core and I'll add an Eternal shut off valve.

Does it make sense?

Thanks;

Dylan

Wish you were closer, I have one from a '62 Chevy Suburban that looks the same. I appreciate your pics because I have been wondering if GMC and Chevy used the same one.

That look like a thermostatically control valve (temp control valve). Years ago I had the same problem in one of my old car and I found someone in Hemming Motor News that would overhaul them. I had sent mine to him and it came back looking and operating like new. That might be a good place to look to see if there is still someone that overhaul these valves.

At the end, i could not find a company to rebuild it.

I purchased a new heater core which was supposed to fit but it did not....
I had it modified and after very soft trimming, it fits perfectly the heater box.

I put a manual valve to close the circuit during summer but this **** valve, although brand new, leaks already.
