Default Saginaw power steering conversion on 1966 K10 help needed

OK, I've tried searching the threads with no results so I'll ask you guys. I have a 1966 4WD Suburban that I'm putting back on the road this summer after 10-15 years of driving a modern Dodge. Manual steering is probably not going to cut it.

Many years ago there was an article, probably in 4 Wheel & Off Road, about using a 1973-1987 frame crack repair plate like this http://www.roughcountry.com/frame-su...kets-5040.html to mount a later power steering box to a frame like my '66. What I remember is one of the three bolt holes from my current manual box was in the correct location to bolt the crack repair plate in place. Once bolted in place you aligned it(not sure how) and welded the plate to the early frame. You then mounted the box to the plate and hooked up the steering shaft which I think needed to be shortened. The rest of the plumbing should be easy.

Does anyone remember the article? Know which mag and which issue? Short of that, anyone done the conversion this way and are willing to explain the fine points?

I'm pretty sure that I remember enough to eventually figure it out but experimenting with steering seems sort of dangerous particularly since I'm pretty sure that there is a "how to" article out there already.

Thanks but 2WD conversions are not the same and links to them are not helpful.

Thanks in advance.
