If originality isn't an issue, the emblems could be reproduced via 3D printing. The only emblems left on my own truck, aside from the "GMC" in the front grille (pictured in my avatar) are the "Custom" badges next to the doors. Somehow, those survived the abuse my truck has received from its previous owners.

Are these badges usually mounted with adhesive, or some kind of clip or pin? I haven't taken one off of a vehicle this old before.

Welcome aboard jchrisman! glad to see someone thought she was worth saving. I loved it being a factory 4x4 - not too many 60-61 GMC's running around period - much less 4x4 equipped ones. I don't know what all I have that you can use, but since I too am restoring (or so I say) a 1960 GMC, I have acquired quite a few spare and extra 60-61 specific items I will likely not be needing. Contact me anytime and I'll see if I can help.

Steve

Man, I could use a correct '61 GMC script for my grill. Mine had been replaced with the square 65-66 style.

Regarding emblems, I don't know exactly both adhesive and barrel clips were used in the '60s...anyone here take these Custom emblems off before?

Thanks GMCNUT! I'm pretty excited about it. There is a lot of work to do on the truck but at least it runs and drives. Just have to use my hand signals as none of the lights currently work I'm hoping to really get going on it later this summer after I whittle down the honey do list a little more. Do you have a build thread for your 60?

Back in the 60's barrel clips and speed nut were used. Being that the cab is double walled in that location good chance barrel clips were used.

Looks like barrel clips are essentially a drywall or concrete anchor with a slightly different structure. Interesting.

No, shamefully I have only acquired it a few months back and so far there simply has not been anything to tell with no motion on the project, but I am starting to make progress worth reporting so I will start one soon....
