Default 6066 GMC Trucks 15 Year Anniversary Jamboree

Statring in January next year it will be 15 years ago that i started the 6066 GMC Trucks Website and group. I was having problems at home and then some with some of the newer folk in the group, and it was too much for me at the time so I gave the group away to one of those that didn't like the way I was doing things, and what happend next was that Jeannie stepped up and took over things and has been doing a great job of running the group and she even saved the website from being lost off the internet. So with that I say THANKS Jeannie.

As some of the older members of the group know, I have held a group get together every 5 years, and as next year will be the five year mark once again, I'll be doing a 6066 GMC Trucks theamed show next year. I have started a show called Howin' st the Moon, and night show, and I'll be doing that this year too, so what I'm going to do it combine both. I'll be doing a 6066 GMC Truck version of Howin' at the Moon on August 29th 2015, that will be a Saturday. it will be held at the Yates Red Shed, same place as the last time. There will be awards for mainly 6066 GMC Trucks, and if you running a GMC Big Block V6, V8, Twin-Six V12 or Toro-Flow Diesel in anything you welcome to bring it to the show. Last time around we had two repowered pickups with 401M V6s installed.

I was going to post a link to the 6066 GMC Trucks 10 Year Anniversary page of the site but it looks to be missing. Maybe I'm have to message Jeannie and see if we can get that posted.

Any way the talking points here are that next year I'll be putting on the 6066 GMC Trucks 15 Year Anniversary Jamboree right here in Honeyville on August 29 2015. the date is set so now it the time to start planing your vacation time.

Rick Rusconi and I have attended both the 5 year and 10 year Jamborees at Jolly's in Honeyville, Utah. I highly recommend to all who can swing it to attend the upcoming 15 year Jamboree.

Rick and I have begun making tentative plans to attend together. One possibility is for me to drive my one ton Suburban (with 4 rows of seats) down to Elk Grove, just south of Sacramento, and pick Rick up for the trek east. If we end up doing that, I'd like to offer a ride to any other forum member who would like to tag along to share expenses.

Anybody interested?

Sure Ed! I'd love some seat time in that awesome Suburban. Oh yeah I would be about a thousand miles out of your way----LOL! Pick up Foley on the way if he doesn't have his GMC ready.

I've got relatives in the Salt Lake area too, and need to get out there to see them some day. Doubtful if I will have a 60-66 by then, but maybe one of the other GMC's might be able to make the trip.

Hey Doug --

You don't need to have a 60-66 to come to the 15 year Jamboree. I drove my Nissan Frontier to the 5 year event, and flew to SLC and rented a car for the 10 year one. RustyNut flew in for the first one. For the second one he flew to California, bought a 60-66 from former forum member Richard Silsbee, drove it to Jolly's, then drove it home to St. Charles, MO. Unfortunately, it was later stolen. Rick Rusconi drove his awesome 401 powered 62 short-wide to both the 5 year and 10 year events. I figured maybe it's time for me to drive one of mine to the 15 year Jamboree.

So for you and anyone else out there contemplating coming, you don't need to bring your 60-66. Bring your daily driver or fly in to Salt Lake City. Just bring photos to show off your 60-66 truck.

It would be nice if every one COULD drive a 6066 GMC to the event, but its not requiered. I even drove my 1994 GMC Dually out to Oregon for a meet one time, I'm not 100% sure if I came out for the meet and picked up some stuff or if the meet just kinda happened because I was coming to Oregon, either way we had a lot of fun.

I have intived SOTS Productions to come out and play the tunes for the event.

Also I have invited so far, one of two truck clubs I belong too to come out of the day. I'll get the other group invited soon.

Its going to be an all day event ending with the Public Show after 5 pm.

And I'm building awards as I can and will have a few piston cups this year too.

Also I will be having Rocker Cover Racing, so just bring you racer and have some fun.

Just a bit more of an update, I got the Dash Plaques ordered, and will be taking awards off to the power coating soon.

I have also set up to have the Great Mountain GMC/Chevy Truck Club coming for their Summer Picnic before the Show, wich some of the member may recall they were here for the first one show in like 2002, before I decided to go with the every 5 years shows.

So for now its going to be three events rolled into one.
August 29th 2015, night of the Full Moon
6066 GMC Trucks 15 Year Anniversary Jamboree, 10 am to 10 pm
Great Mountain GMC/Chevy Truck Club Summer Picnic, 1 pm to 4 pm
Jolly's Truck & Car Show Page, "Howlin' at the Moon" 5 pm to 10 pm.

I'd like to remind anyone intending to come to Jolly's Jamboree to make your motel reservations soon. I made mine yesterday at http://www.bushnelllodge.com/ for August 28th and 29th. This place is old (like our trucks) and off the main drag in Brigham City. I saw it when I was there for the last Jamboree 5 years ago. I didn't go in one of the rooms, but it looked clean and well maintained from the outside. So you all might want to consider it too.

I still plan to pick up Rick Rusconi in the Sacramento area (Elk Grove) on my way to Utah. Sacramento to Brigham City is about 700 miles, and I'd rather not drive that all in one day. Battle Mountain, Nevada, is about half way there, so I made reservations for August 27th and 30th at http://www.battlemtninn.com/. Attendees from central California might want to consider that one too.

I picked up the Dash Plaques yesterday for the show, I'll also have one award for the Best 6066 GMC Truck, voted on by the members that come out, and who ever else I have vote.
