Default Overdrive automatic trans

Can I update my 64 with a newer style Chevy overdrive transmission or do I need an adapter. What do you think would be a good match for an everyday driver with a stock 305E in it. I know there will be drive shaft modifications. Thanks

Hotrod:
Yes, you would need an adapter. Chevy bolt pattern on tranny won't match GMC bolt patter on V6 engine without an adapter.

Here are the factory versions as well as the Bendsten's from the Jolly Site. I've seen them listed in the FS section off and on.

Thanks for the info on the trans, I called Bendsten's and I don't need different one than the one that comes with my truck. John
