Default 64 gmc steering column issues

I have some serious flop in my steering wheel. needs lower bearing I'm guessing. horn does not work nor do the turn signals. I read somewhere that the 64 gmc uses 62 or 63 chevy column parts. is that correct? what parts do I need to order and where should I get them from to fix these issues? thanks

Question Re: 64 gmc steering column issues

Semi-random question.... other than the flop in the steering wheel, does the vehicle track straight? Or does it drift to one side?

Id guess your upper bearing in shot or missing. Go to Jolly's site and read up on the troubleshooting the turn signal switch. The switch holds a the upper bearing. There was a guy in the "chevytalk" forum that sold rebuild kits for manual steering boxes. (I think he went by "Jalepeno")

I would take it the steering wheel off to make sure the hardware is tight and nothing broken. Ebay has some turn signal switch for sale.

Are the Chivy and GMC turn signals the same? Just curious. I have seen the cams advertised as for use in both makes.
