Default Stepside Fenders

I have a 62 K1000 Stepside Shortbed. The previous owner replaced the bed with what appears to be one from a 1970s stepside short bed. I've heard the bed is the same as the 60-66 except for the fenders. I would like to swap the rear fenders for the 60-66 correct style fenders without replacing the entire bed. I understand I'll need to do some work to match the bedside holes to the fenders and replace the steps. I'm in the hunt for stepside fenders so am wondering if there is a difference between the stepside fenders from a longbed vs shortbed truck? Hope to find a pair of used with the spare tire cutout on the drivers side fender and may not know what length of truck they came from. I'd also appreciate any other advice about making this swap that I might not have considered. Thanks!

Default Re: Stepside Fenders

I think the fenders are the same from a longbed vs shortbed. But the cutouts and tire mounting brackets differ for half ton and three quarter tons.
