Default Junkyard GMCs

Hello everyone, I went to my favorite junkyard today to get a couple of things for my '55 and took some pics if some V-6 GMCs in the yard. Sad to see, but at this crusher yard, the owner doesn't believe in crushing the old stuff, so they will sit until everything possible can be sold from them. There were 4 trucks.

The first pics are a 3/4 ton 4x4 with a V-6 but Chevy sheetmetal.

I like those park/signal lamps on the bubble hooded truck! Lots of great stuff for sure.

Yeah Funky61, it sure looks like it would be possible to build a couple of drivers out of what is there! There are quite a few Chevys from this era also.

I can't imagine what it must be like to walk through a local scrapyard and see perfect hoods with no rot, radiators all still in tact, whole engines and drivelines etc just sitting there for the taking....used to be that way here in Alabama and once in a while still is, but not like what you see in these pics....I need to find factory power steering for a 60-62 torsion bar front suspension truck and yards like this one is where you find that....I could use the double groove pullys off that longbed light blue truck too....maybe I need to ride up to SD and go yard hopping

This kind of stuff is dissappearing up here too with the evil portable crushers hitting the rural areas, and two other crusher yards in town that won't sell parts taking a lot of good old trucks and smashing them. I just wish that people who are determined to crush old stuff would take it to this yard since this owner has a soft side for old relics. He keeps most of the old farm equipment that comes in too.

Hello folks, I was out at the junkyard again yesterday and took a few more pics, this time of the interiors. They are all pretty bad shape. The 60 or 61 has an automatic, and the black one with the bashed up passenger side has a GMC radio, but don't know if it is right for the truck. The engine in the yellow one is free and has compression. Kinda sad but atleast they aren't slated to be crushed yet.
