Default Grandpas old GMC 910 from the barn.

I finally pulled my grandfathers of 910 out f the barn. I found a old piece of paper in the glove box which says its a 1965, but is that true? also can someone tell me what size of engine it has? it has a 3 on the tree trans which my father says is sick from picking rocks for many years. It hasn't ran in 20 years and someone stole the rad and some other misc parts off it so the photos show a rad from a 53 chev which doesn't fit. But my friend has a 64 gmc 910 with a 4 speed floor trans, it is the last picture, so can someone tell me the motor size as well? I'm thinking to swap that engine and trans into my Grandpas truck because my friend had it running 2 years ago. thanks! I can't find a vin tag on either truck, just the load rating tags.

Your GMC 910 is a Canadian GMC and built by GM of Canada which basically was Chevrolet. The engine most likely is the 230 ci inline six, the other optional 292 inline six has a considerably taller block height which yours appears not to be.

That's a 230, fuel pump is right behind the distributor.

thanks guys, no my dad said the 3 on the tree trans is slipping so i was thinking to put the 4 on the floor from the '64 parts truck i bought from a farmer for $100. it shouldn't be too hard of a change should it?

If the parts truck was also equipped with an inline 6, it shouldn't be a big deal. The only way to know for sure is compare input shafts, bell housings, overall length dimensions. You might also need to address the driveline length if the granny gear adds length to the gearbox.

Measure twice, cut once.

In my case, one of the PO's added a floor shifter to the 3-speed. For some reason the mount bracket at the back of the tranny vibrated enough to crack in half. I fabbed up a replacement from 3/8" plate, it failed too (took a few years).
