Notes: For August we had an interesting issue with our user contact policy. In the past users were required to log in to contact an administrator. This occasionally resulted in a member applying for two accounts in order to rescue a forgotten password. This also served to limit spam processing of over 1800 emails per day from spam bots using the contact form. The system does however have its shortcomings. This month one member was unable to recover their password and was not able to contact an admin for assistance.

They were persistent though, going as far as posting a password help request on two other forums related to trucks. This action ignited the internet as our always-helpful members flooded my inbox with notifications that a fellow member needed assistance offboard. Thankfully all of your efforts brought us together. That member is back home on the 6066 GMC Truck board and enjoying all of the benefits only found right here.

This highlighted a need for a change in our policy. Users that are not logged in will now notice a new forum titled Open Forum - Site Help at the top of our site. This forum is open to posting from anyone after answering GMC related questions. It is our hope that this will remove the wall between non-members and administrator contact when necessary. We will be keeping a close eye on any side effects and adjusting as necessary.
