As a lot of you know, I've been fiddling with distributors lately. When I reinstalled the old dizzy, I could not find one of the "ears" that had been welded to the original pin to hold the pin and the rubber mounts in. I got a 1" roll pin and drove it through the rubber mounts, shaft, and gear without the ears.. The missing ear turned up last night, so I've just pulled the dizzy to get the ears back on.

What I found was that one of rubber mounts had drifted a bit with one out at least 1/16". Obviously if this would have slipped out entirely there could have been a real crisis that could ruin your whole day.

Many here have done a dizzy change, so if the roll pin wasn't secured something like the original pin you might want to check it.

I'm going to secure my pin by getting the ears back on each side and putting a small blob of JB Weld on the ends of the roll pin. This should do exactly what the swage/weld did on the original pin, preventing any drift.
