Does any one know where to get a rebuilt water pump for the bigger GMC V-6 401 and 478 or even a rebuild kit? Thanks in advance.

do you have the keyed shaft with end threads or the flat flange with 4 threaded holes?

It is the keyed shaft. The truck belongs to a local business . Runs good but pump developed a leak.

so you have air brakes. parts geek.com #59-8146. you may want to contact them and make sure that the item pictured is the actual item. they are showing it as a Suburban unit but the Sub never had air brakes. A1 cardone stuff is pretty poor stuff but it will get you on the road. they are showing $10.00 core but I wouldn't part with the core. watch ebay. I bought a couple new ones on there when they pop up. Summit used to have them but it looks like they no longer have. good luck.

Thank you very much for your help. I have not ordered yet as I want to check fitment. They kind of show a mixed up application table. I know this does not fit the 305 they say it does. If it is the one pictured I will have it. If they sub a non threaded shaft I will not have it. Thanks again for your time and valuable information. It sounds like Cardone either cannot get cores or no longer does them.

actually this did come on 305 trucks and buses that had air brakes. the 305B was a popular bus engine in school buses.

Thanks for that information. All of the 305 engines that I ran across have not had air brakes. I am waiting to make a phone call . Northern Auto Parts website says they have one . I have found out they do not always have what they say they have so thus the phone call. Thanks again.

you can also google the Cardone part#. there are multiple sites showing them in stock. partsgeek was the cheapest. if you can get the oem # off the original casting you should be able to cross it over to an Airtex or other brand. you should also be able to cross the cardone # over as well.

Well , I do not have it in my hands yet but I did get one ordered. As you said , Summit was out of stock. After a phone call Northern Auto Parts was also out of stock. I ended up ordering from Amazon. They say they have it but time will tell. With free shipping Amazon ended up being the least expensive. Without your help on the part # I never would have found it. I would say this though . If you want one supply may be limited. I found less and less of the companies are stocking it and I think it may disappear. Low sales probably. I will try to update this if it arrives and is the correct one. Thanks

I will try to update when I get it . The owner of the truck is going to bring his old pump when it arrives. I am trying to help him out and kind of the middle man in this deal. tommr is pretty sharp on this stuff and you may want to shoot him a message. I think he gave the part # in an earlier post. Thanks

we ate several of these pumps in our 1947 Flxible Clipper 29 passenger motor coach. bought a 22 inch fan with 6 injection molded blades around an aluminum hub. had a friend machine the hub to fit this air brake style pump. weve run 5,000 miles with no issues. found some more air brake style waterpump part #s : NAPA 42105, 55 5005; Airtex AW 5005; GMB 130-6005
