does anybody have or know of any good maintenance manuals for these trucks? or is it better to just kind of go for it?

I was looking at some of these (http://www.amazon.com/GMC-1500-3500-Service-Repair-Supplement/dp/B004QIXUUE) and was wondering if any are worth investing in.

That's the first book I bought because of all the 'Get it"s I got from here. Thirty bucks is a good price too. I paid 50 off Ebay for mine and it's helped me out a buncha times when I got stuck so I didn't have to come back to the board and be like, "Der.....How do i do this?"

I feel dumb enough with the questions I already ask. I'd say it was money well spent.

That is a copy of the original manual. Bishko is one of the companies which buy up all the factory original manuals (ie. outbid everyone else) so they can sell their reprints. I have also seen them sell originals as well, so they do resell some of what they buy. That cover picture though doesn't look "right" for an original though.
It could be really good quality, and if it is then it is a good price.

That particular manual is only slightly helpful. Note that it is the 1963 (X-6323) Supplement. You still need the 1962 (X-6223) manual to go along with this supplement. IF you have a 1963.

This is, by no means a definitive, list of manuals:

Anything in Bold I actually own. Italics are manuals that I have seen but didn't buy. If I haven't seen it but it is known to exist, the number is there but not a description. There may be more manuals than these as well.

I had hopes of cutting the bindings off my manuals and scanning them all in to turn them into pdfs. Except I worked in a library as a book mender and I just have not been able to bring myself to cut a book apart (when I used to repair such damage). Mine are not pristine, so they would not be "perfect" quality copies at any rate.
What little I have scanned in already is linked to from the manual page...BUT I am with a new provider and it may not be possible to access the jpgs since they have access to directories blocked... which means I need to create a webpage for each book I have pages scanned in for.

Awesome! thanks! i'm looking at a '63 with most likely a 235 I6 in it, so the manual is for both the frame, breaks, etc., and I will get something else regarding the motor.

Yep, can't access them, unfortunately. I saw the X-6223 link, but it is blocked, I would love an emailed copy if at all possible though.

That's images of what they look like.I bought a CD off of amazon.com that had 1962 3 & 4 on it. That way I could download it to my laptop tablet and desktop.

Upon further checking it does appear I have to turn all the loose files (jpg scans) that I had online into a web page of some kind. The ISP doesn't allow a remote to view the directory.
I don't have all my manuals scanned completely in. Just assorted pages from each.
I bought the majority of what I have off ebay, a few off craigslist. So they are out there.
