Hello, I was wondering if anybody new for sure what literature would have been in the glove box in a new 1960 GMC Model 1002. I have a Dealer directory that I believe was in each trucks box. But I have not been able to find an Owner Protection Plan Booklet that would have also been in there. Were these in a clear plastic bag with a brass button? That is what I found a 1963 GMC OPP Booklet in. My 1960 Dealer Directory fits in there like it is supposed to be there. Were there other pieces of paper in these boxes when sold new? I found a comic book that is a User Manual type thing, but it is too big for the bag. It is the size of a real comic book. Would this have been in the box when new? I would like to get a copy of all the known literature for my truck, for posterities sake. I have a 1960 GMC Flat Rate Book, 1960 Preliminary Maintenance, 1960 Maintenance Manual ,and 1960 Master Parts Book, all for my 1960. I also have a 1960 Dealer Directory and an incorrect (for Me)1963 Owner Protection Plan Booklet, both in a clear plastic bag with a brass button. What am I missing?
Also, is there a generic build sheet (even Window Sticker) and any stickers, info, etc. that would be placed in, on or elsewhere in the cab? Is there a factory Key Fob,or other GMC specific items in this vein? Thanks for any information, Greg Mead

This appears to be a 1960 Owners Manual. It was listed (and sold) on ebay recently.

Hey Andice, I have that one too. It is not creased, so I wonder if it was in the glovebox when new. It is the size of the Operator Cartoon booklet, that I also have. I think these two bigger books might have been handed to the new purchaser in person, with the other lit being in the g-box. I will try to ad a picture of what I believe was the Owner Protection Plan. I have a 1963,second version. It eludes to there being a first version, from 1960,61 and or 63. This pic was inside front cover of the 1963 OPP I have. The pink one is the 1963 OPP Front cover, the back cover has a book number. If the First Version dates to 1960,it is one piece of literature I know I am missing. Thanks for the help, Greg Mead

I just found this in the Jan.-Feb. 1960 issue of GMC News, a magazine sent out to dealerships. It has a picture of both a diesel and gas engine OPP Booklet. This means that the OPP is available for first year trucks, and I need one to complete the paperwork for my truck. The gas engine variant is what I am hunting. Thanks, Greg Mead

I found this picture from a 1961 GMC 1/2ton that is all original. The little booklet with the red binder is the Owner Protection Plan. I have all the other paperwork. I lack only the OPP to complete my paperwork. I do not think they had window stickers back then. My truck was actually picked up at the Pontiac factory by the original owner, in late 1959. So it would not have had a dealers window sticker. It may have had a build sheet, but I have not seen it in the back of the seat. Why did they put them there instead of with the other important paperwork, in the glove box? Thanks for any help, Greg Mead

This is the booklet cover. Taken from a dealer newsletter from GMC Corporate, in 1960. Has anyone ever seen a copy of this booklet? Thanks for any help, Greg Mead

I scanned the 1960 and 1961 GMC Operators Booklets today. There appear to be two different cover schemes. Here is the 1960 Owner Protection Policy that I am looking for. It did exist, but I have never seen one. Has anyone got one of these? Thanks, Greg Mead
