I searched the threads and found little on answering this question. What oil is used by members in their V6's. My default on everything I own is Castrol, but maybe I might want to use something different on this engine.
On all my older flat tappet engines I use an zinc additive, is this also recommended?
thanks all,
gg

That is a great question! I can't wait to see the responses. I was thinking of trying this because of the "boosted zinc"...

...but will wait to see what folks here are already using.

The standard I've heard is Rotella 15w 40. Here's the additive I used, recommended by Jay Leno for old cars with flat tappets. You just put a little in. 1 bottle lasts a few changes.

Here's my thread asking the same question too when I was to that stage.

I have been using this additive for my older cars. I did notice on one of them it quieted the motor and oil pressure was staying higher at idle than before.

On the Rotella, which one the T or the synthetics? I was reading the specs, seems the T would be best for our trucks.
