Not to hog the thread, but good to know. I'm running 15-40 in mine as of now. I'm gonna run the Valveline racing 30 weight oil.

In the 15 years our forum has been around, what oil to use has been discussed several times. Everybody has an opinion. Ask 10 people what to use and you'll probably get 10 different answers. In my opinion, there is no "right" answer as long as you use a good brand name oil and change it and the filter often enough. These V6s are tough engines and will take a lot of abuse. When you take into consideration that modern oils, with their superior additive packages, are light-years better than the oils available in the 1960s, there is no reason to be afraid that you'll use the "wrong" oil nowadays.

My personal preference is Amsoil 10W40 because of the high zinc additive for flat tappet cams. See http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/motor-oil/gasoline/premium-protection-10w-40-synthetic-motor-oil/?code=AMOQT-EA. I've been using it since the early 1970s.

Yes I would run a 30wt in the summer but a 10w30 would be fine all year.
But make sure you use a zinc additive if the oil your using does not have it in there.
