Hello everyone after resurfacing the flywheel only 6000th and putting a new clutch pressure plate throughout bearing in it won't disengage. Clutch pedal down and try to put it in gear all I get is grinding. Any help on this would be awesome. 1962 GMC with and 305 with a 3 on the tree.

When I pulled the inspection plate off and have someone press the clutch pedal I can see everything working where the pressure plate comes away from the fly wheel.

DId you mash the pilot bearing or anything that would cause it to bind up there? If it's pulling away I can't think of anything that would keep them locked up. Did you put the right clutch in? If you bought a chevy clutch it won't work.

P.S. Jeannie please move this to the transmission forum. it's in general.

I just double checked it it is for a 62 GMC one ton 2 Wheel drive motor.... When I press the pedal everything moves to disengage it just seems like it's not pulling far enough away.

What's the make/model, etc of the clutch? If it's not exactly the right one (the pressure plate really) it won't disengage.
