Chrome grille

I am new to the GMC world with the recent purchase of a 1966 GMC short bed. I have been checking different web sites and I have seen some chrome grilles but most are white like mine. Was that a dealer accessory?

The chrome grille wasn't a dealer accessory it was an option. You would normally see the chrome grille and front letters with the Custom Cab option.

Hey thanks for the answer. Mine has the "extra" trim around the side glass but the white grille.

Does it have the "Custom" emblem on the side pillars of the cab?

Yes sir it does.

At some point it's possible the grille may have been changed or the truck may have been special ordered with the white painted grille. Are the front bumper and front letters white as well?

Yes both are white but I think was wrecked in the front. It wouldn't surprise me if it was delivered with a chrome grille

That's most likely what happened and what was available was used to replace the original:thumbsup:
