What color are 1963 GMC dash knobs? When did Gray change to black? Thanks for any help.

Should be black on the 63, our 62 had black knobs!

My 61 has grays so that must be the cut-off.

They’re all black on my g-father’s ‘63 GMC 3/4 ton - it’s all original.

I would say that's true, I can definitely remember from my childhood that my fathers 62 had black knobs!

I guess it must depend, but I don't know on what, because the original dash knobs on my 1964 1500 are grey.

Maybe it’s specific to a particular factory. At which factory was your truck manufactured?

Did you buy the truck new in 64? If you're not the original owner then it's possible at some point the knobs were changed.

I still have the owner's manual to our 62 and the page that shows the instrument cluster and all dash controls shows black knobs.

Cecilia ('62) has gold knobs. Is that not normal? tastes like spraypaint.

I took a close look at my 64 GMC 1500 truck today, and the knobs that I thought were grey are probably black. They are a little faded or just dirty, but darker than grey. I should know better than to post what I think without checking.

My 65 has black for the lights, had no knob on the wipers, and the choke knob was the same color as the dash, though mostly worn off now. Of course from the pic below, you can tell that truck been well used.
