Hi all, It appears that I bought a pig in a poke to restore. I am in need of the following info. 1] Does anybody have a complete list of all fasteners ,etc. {sizes, number of them needed for each section, etc.} to attach all fenders, bed to frame, cab to frame, grille to grille support, doors ,hood to hinges. bumper to front end.I was told {before I bought truck} That restorer had all of this. what he did have was a coffee can of odds & ends that are not even correct for this truck. :pullinghairout: my own fault I guess. should have looked more closely at everything before I paid for it.:poke::banghead: Any help would be greatly appreciated. :signthankspin:

Most of the vendors for parts for our trucks sell fastener kits, usually stainless steel. They come in labeled bags. If you're not familiar with the vendors, pick up a copy of Classic Trucks magazine on the newsstand. There are a lot of them, LMC being just one example.

Thanks Ed. I am familiar with some of these kits . However, in looking at what some of them call kits, it does not appear that the kit includes "everything" needed for the area the kit was designed for. I was wondering if you or anyone else might be able to steer me in the right direction /company to order from. LMC trucks has several different kits but they dont look like they contain all the parts needed. Do you know if the Chevy "Factory assembly Manual " would have this information for my GMC:crazyyippee::faint:

You are switching from "fasteners" to "everything needed"...........I am not sure what you want. You will have to be more specific on what you want. A complete hardware kit is not available. Subassembly kits are available. (bed kits, cab mounting, etc0 If the Assembly manual has part numbers for hardware, that won't help now 50 years later. If you want the bolts/nuts or screws or what. Anyway, it's not that hard to figure it out. There are only a few sizes and the thread sizes are 1/4-20, 5/16, 7/16, 3/8. Then the nuts, washers to fit each. You can buy it all at the hardware store. Buy one of each to test a threaded hole, write it all down, determine the length, make a list and buy. Most people just forge ahead and start assembly to see what they need if they don't have any hardware.

Another source that usually does not show in search engines for some reason. I have found a few things in the past that others did not have. Good luck.

That way never works, bro. You gotta put some sweat equity into anything to get it done. Just start with one piece. "What do I need to connect my (this) to my (this)?" and go from there.

The places mentioned are all decent places. Last place I bought hardware from was https://www.brotherstrucks.com/ They have a bunch of hardware, bolts, etc. Just know what you're "fastening" and they probably can send you the stuff to fasten it. Just make sure you specify quantity though. They see all orders as "quantity = 1" even if you put 9 in there.

New question? 1960 GMC 1000 truck. Does anyone know if the grille mounting panel comes in a 2 light & a four light panel. or is there only one panel used for both grilles?:banghead:

As far as I know there were two different panels and the single light panel is for Chevrolet trucks. The GMC panel actually come to an angled point in the center just right below the hood while the Chevrolet version is just straight.

Thank you for the info on that. Dumb question. Is there any way to take off the grill and Grill mounting panel together as one unit or do you have to disassemble both. Thanks

I believe they can both be taken out together, but I always took them out separately.
