Picked up a 66 last week. Rusty yet well preserved totally stock unmolested truck! Has a 305 V6 and 4 speed manual. Evidence of electrical troubleshooting. air cleaner removed, spark plug boxes in cab, can of starting spray, plug wires pulled etc. Gonna be a fun project with the kids!

Kind of rare to see a 4-Speed in a 1/2 Ton Short Bed.

I like it.

It may have been ordered that way. Dad told me that on 1000 series trucks that he sold that usually if a truck was going to farm or off-road work, he would equip it with a 3.54 spicer 44, if not, it got the 3.07 ratio rear end. It would make sense to have the sm420 installed at the factory in combination with the 3.54 axle. In this instance, the original owner may have had tighter navigation requirements that an lwb vehicle would have more difficulty with.
