I took my doors off and had to replace the bottom of door due to rust. I took everything out of the inside of both doors that could be taken out and after I put everything back together both doors won't open from inside and it's really hard to see inside the door. I looked in my manuals but I don't see anything clear enough to see what it looks like. Anyone have any info on this? I would greatly appreciate it. I'm trying not to have to take the inside of door apart again.

Thanks
Greg

Greg, I know you know this but, the inside handle operates a long actuator bar that reaches to the latch/lock mechanism and operates it. The bar attaches to the latch by slipping it over a tab on the latch. You need to observe what part of the assembly is moving/not moving and what is not hooked up or not hooked up correctly. The operation can be seen thru the various access holes in the door with access panel off.
I assume if both doors were working fine before, that it is not a stripped handle spline or broken parts.
The actuator bar is usually "permanently" fixed to the inside handle spline mechanism.
These parts are called:
1. Remote control assy
2. Remote control link
3. Door lock assy

Thanks Ken! I’m off the next couple of days so I get to work on it. Almost done with painting it. Looking forward to finally drinking it after 4 years of working on it.

Thanks
Greg

Greg, I did a tutorial on installing the door glass on my 60, this give you some detail and pictures to guide you. I can tell you that the after market replacement parts , while they look right, simply don't WORK right - I don't know why. Look for the second post.
