I knew when i bought my '63 that the PS leaked; the seller was a "full disclosure" kinda guy. The leak is pretty bad; the reservoir empties pretty quickly. I cleaned off the control valve area with brake fluid and a brush for a good look. Is this better rebuilt or replaced, and how big a job is a rebuild?

PS in the photo, that is a steady drip, not a constant stream.

I doubt that you could find the parts to rebuild it yourself. I have seen the Lares brand rebuilt cylinders on Ebay. Another option would be to convert to the later type power steering using kits available from a number of sources.

They can be rebuilt depending on the condition, of course. I have a 67 and it also emptied my reservoir very quickly but I found the kit and installed the seals fairly easily. That was prob 10 years ago and I’m still driving it today. The other choice is buy the rebuilt valve - that works too. Good luck
