The older V6s had that style distributor with a window on the cap. They had the years wrong on some of the parts books.I like that style distributor better than the new style,it is easier to set the dwell through the window. I think if you look up cap, rotor, points and condenser for a 60 or 61 they will work for your distributor. Also I would check the two little springs on your centrifugal advance to see if they have any strength left in them or your timing will vary. Dave

Basically other than the cap the early GMC V6 distributors shared the same rotor, points and condenser as GM V8's and the Buick V6.

thanks guys.
The listings are wrong I guess... :lolflag: I was able to find the round rotor listed on 1960. I guess mine was swappped at some point.
I already ordered the rotor for early 60s SBC and it matched the number of a 1960, but I'll definitely look into the springs as well. Not having luck tracking that down.. yet

as pete said, the listings are wrong. 1960-63 carried the window type distributor. And as for springs, the only springs that 63-70 carries for the V6 is 1 ton front springs(2500-(63-6), 3500-(67-70)). I hope this is helpful in your parts search.

The springs I was talking about are the ones on the mechanical advance on the window type distributor. On my 62 they were very loose and allowed the weights to flutter. When I was timing it you could see the timing marks move around in the light. Put new springs in and the timing marks were steady. Motor ran smoother and was happier. In the picture yours looked like they had been replaced, looked pretty shiny. You will know when you time it. Dave
