View Full Version : Finding old pictures from about 14 years ago.

I had been a member years ago, but lost touch after my old computer crashed. Before it did though, I had posted a whole lot of pictures of my 3 speed overdrive transmission overhaul,
among other things.
I lost them with the computer, but now I'm wondering if maybe they are still on this site.
How do I go about finding them? I have no idea what I named the file anymore, I just have my old username, "cadptsman" , and I'm not even sure if that's right. It has been 14 years or more.

Anyone have an idea on how I could do this?
I can tell you that it's about a full synchronized 3 speed manual overdrive transmission hybrid. I called it a hybrid because I used parts from both an early and a late style overdrive unit to come out with a longer total length transmission. I've actually built two of them.
I also do remember that I had made a reverse lockout lever or related part from a standard 3 speed part for it, because no one had one for sale at the time.

But I would really like to have the pictures again if it's possible.
My thanks for your help.

Well, after some long searching through the gallery here, I finally found my pictures. I even managed to download them to my phone. However, I couldn't get my narrative under them. How can you get the narrative/comments off the pictures?

For proof I did build them, here's a couple of pictures of one of them still in my storage bus.

Well that didn't work! How do you, or can you attach a picture to your post?

Also photo’s are not archived that I’m aware of so unless somebody saved them, I’m afraid they are in the fog.

I wondered about that. But I know I posted those pictures over 10 years ago, maybe even longer, at least that's what I thought, but they're still on here. I also posted pics of an automatic transmission adapter set up I had for sale and it's here too.
I can see the date I posted that reply about the other guys transmission in '09. However did you find that anyway?
I tried looking for anything I had done before and came up with nothing.

Anyway, now that I've got the pictures back, I'd like to get my descriptions as well. They didn't transfer with the pictures, and I'd rather not have to write them all down. Do you know how to do that? My memory ain't what it used to be and it would help to have my "notes" if I have a problem in the future.

And the last thing, I'm curious as to why Jeannie's name is on the album? That's another reason why it took me a while to find them, as I was looking under my name. I had to go through the gallery pic by pic. I know my name was on them when I posted them. Not that it matters, I've got 'em now.

Oh yeah, one more thing, what does!Bork! mean? I've seen that both on some of my notes and in that old post you found.

Thanks for your help on this. I do appreciate it. Rick

Can someone tell me why the photo album of my overdrive transmission has somebody else's name on it?
I've tried to post this question a few times already but it doesn't show up on here.

The photo album of my overdrive transmission shows that it posted by someone named Jeannie, why?

Jeannie runs the Forum and must have saved those from the old group. Those were the photos you were seeking?

Could also be part of the update/tweaking going on in the forum she told us about.

Yes, I found the pictures I wanted. I was surprised that they were still on here.
Let me ask you this. Is there a time limit to your log on? Meaning, I keep getting logged out after about an hour or so.
And thanks for the answers too. Rick

I can stay logged on the forum via my phone for quite a while so not sure on
the time limit/log off you are experiencing.

Yes, those are the ones. Just want to get my notes now if I can figure out how. Not sure why they didn't download with the pictures.

Hi Cadman!

Welcome back to the club! To stay logged in, tick the checkbox beside the login form that says, "Remember me".

A few years ago I went through all of the pictures posted on the Yahoo Groups site and uploaded them one by one to the new site here. At that time I asked members to post if they saw pictures that were theirs, so that I could link them to their username. I'll do that for yours now if you'll post a link to the album you saved.

Regarding the notes, Yahoo Groups is going out of business in February so I may still be able to get them, but after that point they'll be gone forever. Please let me know if you'd like me to try to salvage them.

Have a great evening,

-Jeannie

Jeannie,
Thank you for your help here, I appreciate that. But I'm not sure what you mean about posting a link for the pictures.
I found them under the title "A pair of overdrive transmissions". The only other pictures that showed up with "overdrive" in the title are also ones I posted. I put them here to show I'm the person who had posted the original ones years ago.
I have not been on a computer for over ten years since my laptop had died. Do you want my email address to send them to?
