Well my eBay piston rings came in. I really can’t find any info for them. The ad said they were for a 305 V6. Maybe one of you guys could let me know if I got lucky and found some or if I have some new paper weights8618

Or if you guys know a way to measure the rings to make sure they will fit. I am pretty new to this. I really appreciate your help

If you already have machine work done, then put a ring in a cylinder, get it straight with a piston and measure end gap.
Multiple rings, oil and comp and cyls and good luck.

I measured the ring gap and its around .060 I cant find what its suppose to be. I did watch a you tube video of a rebuild and he said around .025 is good. Does anyone happen to know what the limits actually are I would love to know. So for now I am not pulling the pistons until I get the correct rings or find out the ones I have are fine. Thanks

What exact procedure did you use to measure the ring gap? What ring(s) did you check? You measure it when it's in the bore. Making sure ring is level.
Also "about" won't get it. This is a semi precision item. You need to measure down the .001. The gap for your top ring is usually the narrowest. For a 4.25 Dia bore.......... about .017 installed.
Rule of thumb: Top ring .004 x bore. Second ring .005 x bore
All info from the web because I don't know anything about this.
