So, I have bought a 61 K1000 short wideside I am about to start on and it came solid Varsity Blue which like all the colors available stock in 60-61 is a great color, and maybe I will stick with that, but I am debating changing it to some other correct solid color or two-tone color scheme that would maybe be more "forgiving" on the paint man, but still from the original color choices in 1961. I am thinking Mesa Tan and White, solid or two-toned Crystal Green, or maybe even solid Omaha Orange. Assume Orange paint would be expensive like Red so probably not doing that if so, but omaha makes a great 4x4 color. Who knows. Wanting pictures you guys are hoarding of restored or unrestored 2WD or 4WD 60-61 GMC's that are wearing correct original paint colors to give me some examples to share with the wife and boy and friends who's opinions I might also ask. Appreciate you sharing!

This is Fred Lechners' Crystal Green two tone K1000 - liking this combo a lot but like 4x4's to be solid color trucks better maybe

I have a photo saved of a 66 in a color offered for 60-61 that I would choose.

It's a different paint scheme I know, but you get the picture.

I love Mesa Tan / Palomino Tan on these early trucks - especially the knee-knocker trucks. If I don't end up keeping the original Blue color, I will be strongly considering this two-toned scheme like you posted.

I was hoping some of the older members saved a lot of pics of these trucks and would share but I may have posted to the wrong place because I now see the sub-forum for paint work so may need to move this discussion there
