I have two questions. My 65 C1000 has a 3-speed Saginaw 343. Does anyone have a pdf of a service manual or a detailed exploded view? Any help would be appreciated along those lines.
Second, There is a wire that comes out of the case. Is that the lead for the backup light? If it is, how do I get it to power a backup light since there is no power to the transmission? What am I missing?

I'd not heard of a 343 Saginaw but here is a bit of what I researched that popped up and I'm not sure if it's your 343 so proceed with caution.
I hope it helps you..

Here is some info I found and links on the reverse switch concern.

Thanks, some of that I found before I asked the question, but there was some new stuff that was very useful.

I have never worked on a transmission before. Does the reverse switch on the transmission simply complete the negative side of the circuit to light the reverse light?

NONOMAN, that sounds correct but I'm electrically challenged so hopefully somebody else will chime in.
