Bed wood mounting questions

Hello,

I have a couple of questions regarding bedwood.

1. Where are those eccentric washers located?
2. Does anyone have a picture from one of the bed crossmembers ( taken from underneath the bed), showing how bolts/hardware from the bed wood is bolted to the crossmember?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Please post them if you have them.

Thanks for the replies. I've posted a picture of the washer than I mean.
@Funky61: I thought the 67-72 originally had a steel floor? Anyway, the picture does help out. I figured every bolt from the bedstrips was bolted to a steel crossmember, not held in place with a washer underneath the wood.

If I remember correctly, steel floors were standard and wood floors were optional in those years. I special ordered a new Chevy pickup in 1972 with the optional wood floor.

Here are a few pics of my 1960 Long bed fleet side. Those washers (not in yet) will go in the spots where there are no cross members (between the wheel wells).

Great pictures! Thanks for the help everyone. What confused me was that the washers have a square hole, which implied to me that they would go directly underneath the head of the carriage bolt as to lock it in place. When they go underneath the bedwood the square hole would not be able to hang onto the square portion of the carriage bolt as it sits too low. And all bolts go in from the top as far as I know (meaning bolt head up, not vice versa, so that is no option either)

Still unsure why these have a square hole.

Made no sense to me either. Picked up standard washers from the hardware store. It was some time ago but as I recollect I still didn’t like it (too much flex). Took it apart with the intension of running long flat metal strips instead of washers. Should help to tie everything together. Pictured from left to right: Original, kit version, hardware store.

Washers with square holes do go on top. The offset on them is what keeps the carriage bolt from turning in the wood. The washers underneath have round holes.

Thanks for the help. Makes sense that they go on top. Where are they located on a fleetside? (the washers) Looking at pictures I cannot spot them. I figured each and every bolt passed through the bedstrip with a square hole in it. Or are there exceptions?

Bolts with offset washers mount bed to frame of truck. I don't have fleet side so I can't give you measurements. The bolts for these washers are much longer and 3/8" diameter instead of the 1/4" rail bolts. If you bought a bolt kit, these bolts are probably 4" long.
