Hi all,
After spending the last 3 years rebuilding a 1964 corvair van, I have decided my next project will be a 60-61 gmc 1500. I look forward to learning a lot from this site.

Welcome to the forum, Jim! I'm curious if you have specific reasons to search for the '60 or '61 models rather than the later ones. I also wanted to make sure you knew that the 1500 designation is for three quarter ton models, not half tons -- a common misunderstanding.

Keep us posted on your search.

Well Ed, I have just learned my first thing from this group! I like the 60-61 because of the hood and the torsion bar front suspension. I seem to like the weird stuff.

I prefer the leaf spring rear ends like the '63-'66 models have myself. But to each his own as the old saying goes. If you haven't yet, make sure you check out the original 6066 site at http://6066gmcguy.com/. Lots of good info still there.
