Had anyone removed their dash from a 1966 1000 series truck? I am planning to paint the dash and was trying to figure out if it would be easier to remove vs tape off? I see four Phillips head screws under the bottom of the windshield gasket, but am unsure if dash is also spot welded?

Thanks for any advice you can offer. Attached are pictures of the Phillips screws under the gasket.

The screws hold on the defrost vents. No one removes a dash to paint. Tape it.

Yes, the dash is spot welded to the cab.

Gentlemen:
Ok thanks. I have fears of dirt from back of dash polluting my paint and overspray polluting the rest of my truck...

I will deal with it.

If you tape off to cover all of the cab. Take out the seat, dust will be trapped out and everything will be protected from overspray. Search pix on the internet to see how everybody does it. This is a fairly routine job. Big sheets of clear poly or paper drop cloth will make it easier. The prep takes 10X longer than the spray.

Good time to evaluate the condition of the windshield and windshield seal. If it looks sketchy, I'd remove the windshield and make sure the channel is clean and without rust. Oh boy here we go.....

Folks:
Here is completed dash repaint as well as windshield replacement.

I had one glass man give up on the install. Couldn't find another glass man, so I put it in myself. After a bit of struggle, learned that the old timers used grease on new gaskets to get them to slip into place. White lithium spray grease is what I ended up using since it doesn't degrade rubber. Foaming glass cleaner they use on u tube wouldn't cut it.
