Hey folks my name is Rob, I’m getting a 62 gmc and can’t wait to bring it home to Texas. Any how the truck is a long bed small window thru the vin it’s A two wheel drive but it has a hi low gear shifter. I didn’t climb under the truck to find out . It was a gift from the father in law.

That Hi/lo gear shifter isn't 4wd unless it was added aftermarket. It might be a second gearing for highway speeds. You're one lucky son of a gun to get that. I think it's called a browning gearbox or something. It gives our low RPM engines the gearing needed to hit highway speeds, though steering and stopping at those speeds isn't easy in a boat like these haha.

Welcome to the club. Can't wait to see more pictures!

Welcome to the forum, Rob! My one ton Suburban has a Watson "Brownie" overdrive box installed behind the SM420 four speed transmission. It's possible you have the same, or at least similar, setup. Mine is shifted by pulling out a big knob mounted in the dash though.

A quick internet search came up with this -- https://talk.classicparts.com/threads/watson-auxiliary-transmissions.21364/. I'm sure there's a lot more info out there if you want to dig further.

I'd be interested to see how the brownie box is installed. If you can take a picture of the driveline when you climb under the truck, that'd be appreciated!
