Toroflow With Bosch In-line Pump

Never seen this before, wonder what the story is. All the Toroflows I have ever seen used the Bosch PSJ distributor type pump.

Left hand rotation ToroFlow is kind of an oddball too.

Yes it is! Must have been pulled out of a twin engine cruiser.

Nope, single engine steel hull boat, built in Erie pa. Was purchased from Barr marine around 1966 to replace a flathead Waukesha. Years ago, a guy on ebay out in California had a NOS left hand rotation camshaft still in the cardboard tube. There are a lot of left hand Only parts on this thing.

Interesting, I wonder why it was a left hand engine. I'll bet it's full of oddball parts!

In line pump mystery may be solved. Possible very late 1974 'Turbium 7.8' Toroflows used the in-line pump.

I have a toroflow that was in a New Idea forage harvester. It also has the inline Bosch pump. I'm sure it was a later style that went away from the rotary pump.
Case farm tractors did the same thing. The earlier models had rotary pump and later ones went to the inline pump also. Probably in the middle 1960's time frame.

The only other diesel I have seen with the Bosch PSJ rotary type pump was the early Mack V-8's. I wonder if GMC went to the in-line pump because Bosch dropped the PSJ. I worked on some old Case tractors that had Roosa-Master rotary pumps.
